Support Your Local Theater Arts Community!

Hello!

Thank you so much for being a supporter of theater arts! We hope you were able to see The Lover and Anton in Show Business earlier this year. Valley Players strives to produce quality shows that appeal to audience members like you.

We will be reprising The Lover by Harold Pinter in September at Bay Area Stage Theater in Vallejo and will follow that with a production of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang (Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play!) in November, also at Bay Area Stage Theater.

In order to produce these shows, we have some specific monetary needs and we hope you can help. Our financial needs for the rest of 2017 total $5,000. For a detailed breakdown, please see below. Every penny donated will go directly to covering these costs and every dollar counts!

Please help us to continue to bring you quality, affordable live entertainment by making a tax-deductible donation today using the form here!

Sincerely,

* What is a revolve and why do we need one? A revolve is a mechanically controlled platform within a theatre that can be rotated in order to speed up the changing of a scene within a show. Our immediate need for the revolve is for the set of our reprisal of The Lover in Vallejo. The Bay Area Stage Theater’s performance space is much cozier than that of the Lincoln. There is no way to fit both a bedroom and a living room on the same stage without a revolve! The plans we have had drawn up, though, make this revolve even more special – and useful. It is designed to be assembled and disassembled easily to allow for easy transport and compact storage, thus making it usable again and again and again. This revolve is also designed to be expandable. Currently, the materials included in the cost will make a 13 foot revolve, but the design will allow that revolve to not only be shortened to 8 feet, but expanded to eighteen! Having a revolve will greatly broaden our choice of material as we will be able to look at plays that use more than one set.

** Rights, facility rental and marketing are just a portion of the cost of producing a play. The actual budget for a production also includes the cost of scripts, props, costumes, set pieces, paint, printing of programs and other unexpected sundries. What we have priced out above are our currently known costs. The reprisal of The Lover shouldn’t cost much more than what we have listed – we will only need to cover the cost of paint and programs as we already have all the props, costumes and set pieces. Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is another story. There are some very specific costume requirements and a more complicated set among other miscellaneous items.
